DC You

2. DC You

the transitional period from New 52 to Rebirth after the Convergence

DC You is a period of sheer transition, more or less, and several titles carry over from the New 52 in terms of volume sequence. A plan to include Watchmen in the regular DC canon meant scrapping the New 52 model to prepare readers (and the Justice League) for new, menacing presences like Doctor Manhattan and Ozymandias/ Adrian Veidt.  After Convergence, most DC lines/ runs got wrapped up by the end of DC You to allow Rebirth to start from scratch as best it could without a major crisis (although the Darkseid War and Final Days of Superman serve as an epic finale). The New 52 caught a lot of heat but it allowed Barbara Gordon to reassume the mantle of Batgirl, brought about Red Hood and the Outlaws, and introduced readers to the Court of Owls. Personally, I loved the New 52 and appreciated DC You, but I love the Watchmen even more and have been thrilled with Rebirth. The only line to really cross into Rebirth without a hitch is the non-canon “Harley Quinn” run by Amanda Palmer and her husband, Jimmy Palmiotti.
