dir. Wolfgang Peterson
Few films choose to take the perspective of German soldiers in WWII. While Wolfgang Peterson’s (Enemy Mine, Poseidon) film about a German U-boat crew of soldiers doesn’t depict ground or air warfare, the naval combat should be considered just as, if not more, compelling. The crew experiences doubt of their government’s ideology as it grows more and more apparent they are fighting a losing battle in the Atlantic Ocean as one of twelve remaining German U-boats at film’s beginning.
