The Wolverine

10. The Wolverine

While the 2009 origin film of our favorite X-Man was lackluster and disappointing, the hiring of James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) is exactly what our mutton-chopped mutant needed.  The Wolverine takes place following the events of 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and follows Hugh Jackman once again as Wolverine in a Japanese endeavor to learn the way of the samurai.  With Mangold behind the camera and the studio not cramming every character from the X-Men universe, I expect this film to get back to the character’s basic appeal.  There are even rumors of Logan’s trademark “Berserker Fury.”  I’m counting on this film to get me through until summer 2014’s mega-blockbuster, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will combine both the past-set and present-set X-Men franchises.
