This is Marvel Studios/ Disney’s first Avengers-related film since last summer’s The Avengers. Having Iron Man begin another phase for Marvel is the smart route to take again. 2008’s Iron Man blew audiences away and set up the biggest franchise team-up in Hollywood history. Although the 2010 sequel seemed more focused on involving S.H.I.E.L.D. than involving a story, the hiring of Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Lethal Weapon) is a step in the best direction possible. The entire cast returns with new additions Rebecca Hall, Guy Pearce and Sir Ben Kingsley. In an article with Entertainment Weekly, Robert Downey Jr. stated Ben Kingsley will “steal the movie” as Iron Man’s arch-nemesis, The Mandarin. Hopefully Disney makes a profit off this and Monsters University as The Lone Ranger is poised to disappoint with an over-budget, extended production schedule.
