Widely regarded to be the film that cemented Cruise in superstardom, the late Tony Scott’s film about jet fighting at the height of the Cold War followed the brash, cocky Maverick as he navigated MiGs, Iceman’s rivalry and the death of a friend.  Tom Cruise blew up in the 80s and here is where it happened: beach volleyball, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling,” and “Highway to the Danger Zone.”  Although the film is campy and 80s-specific, new fans sprout up every year to declare their love for Tom Cruise’s slick hair cut, smooth talking and cool sunglasses.
