“Come with me if you want to live.” How many one-liners can a movie have? The Terminator had a basic, transcendent premise that all audiences could follow: a robot from the future is sent back in time to kill an unsuspecting woman, Sarah Connor, in Los Angeles. Following Sarah Connor’s development from the first chapter to the second in her waitress-to-soldier transition was arguably as interesting as the titular villain changing sides for the second and third installments when the Terminator served Sarah’s son, John Connor. This franchise takes a grim look at a future not unlike the one planned for Avengers: Age of Ultron with artificially intelligent machines conquering the planet in an ongoing war with the human race. The exploits of the Connor family are documented as they come into contact with time-travelling cyborgs. The fifth installment, Terminator: Genisys, takes a look at the Terminator raising and training Sarah Connor for her role in the apocalyptic war.
