Paquin’s Marie/ Rogue served as the heart and protagonist of Singer’s 2000 original. Rogue’s arc spans the original trilogy and it’s through her perspective that Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters gets explored. Storm, Cyclops, Professor X, and Jean Grey are teachers first to Rogue, not crime-fighting peers. By the trilogy’s end, she graduates to X-Woman and joins her teachers and fellow students on Xavier’s heroic mutant roster. Her ability to drain a person’s life force certainly provides a unique conundrum and terrifying power simultaneously. Oscar-winner Anna Paquin (The Piano, “True Blood”) played Rogue with a shy reservation and need to explore in X-Men but grew with her character as she opened up more and started dating when she grew more comfortable with her situation. Expect Paquin with her signature white streak to appear in Days of Future Past as well.
