Eight Men Out is another ensemble baseball film with a stellar cast all on the verge of breaking out (Charlie Sheen, John Cusack, David Strathairn).  The title refers to the banishment of eight Chicago White Sox players for throwing the 1919 World Series which later became known as the Black Sox Scandal. Writer/director John Sayles paints a sympathetic portrait of the 1919 Chicago White Sox at the player level. Sayles shows why each player turned against owner Charles Comiskey.
