Dir. Joss Whedon
If this really is filmmaker Joss Whedon’s last hoorah within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it looks like he’s checking out on a high note. All of the 2012 Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye) are set to return with the promise of additions to the heroic squad promised in the trailers. Whedon promised to focus on developing the characters this time around as opposed to an epic spectacle of fighting super heroes getting to know each other in 2012. In an effort to keep the peace and comfortably retire following the reveal of HYDRA in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) develops a sentient robot program, Ultron, that goes haywire in the worst way. He enlists the help of his fellow Avengers (Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and Samuel L. Jackson) to destroy Ultron (James Spader) once and for all. This film and Star Wars are the only sure-fire billion-dollar movies in 2015.
