Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down) returns to the genre that catapulted his career for his newest film, The Martian. Matt Damon (The Bourne Identity, We Bought a Zoo) yet again plays an astronaut, just not a dubious one this time. The actor stars as the titular hero, an astronaut who crash-landed on Mars and is presumed dead on Earth. Based on the book by Andy Weir, “the Martian” has little resources and must efficiently plan a course for survival if help should ever arrive to take him back home. His crewmates team with NASA on Earth to plot a rescue mission. Co-starring Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Peña, Sean Bean, Kate Mara and Donald Glover; written by Drew Goddard (World War Z, The Cabin in the Woods).
