Cinema icon Steven Spielberg (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saving Private Ryan) hasn’t helmed anything since Lincoln in 2012, so audiences have been more than a little curious as to what the prolific director/ producer would focus on for his next project. The director enlists frequent collaborator and fellow icon Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Captain Phillips) to re-create a true story from the Cold War era. The leading man stars as American attorney James Donovan, an insurance lawyer recruited by the CIA as a means to help extract an American pilot detained in the Soviet Union. The pilot is privy to some extensive intelligence and making sure he returns home safe without divulging anything is paramount to Donovan’s mission. Co-starring Alan Alda and Amy Ryan; written by Matt Charman (Patriot’s Day, “Black Work”) and the Coen brothers (Fargo, No Country For Old Men).
