Dir. The Coen brothers
A few years have passed since the Coen brothers released the little-seen, but critically-adored, Inside Llewyn Davis. In 2016, they return to comedy in Hail, Caesar!. Never dull when manufacturing laughs, the Coens haven’t tried mainstream comedy since 2008 in Burn After Reading. Their latest picture takes place in the 1950s and involves a studio fixer (Josh Brolin—Everest) who must locate a kidnapped star (George Clooney) as the studio obviously depends on star power for their Roman Empire epic production. A Coen brothers film always attracts in-demand names and their newest comedy is no different—Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Jonah Hill, and Dolph Lundgren co-star with Brolin and Clooney.
