Dir. David Yates
After directing the final four Harry Potter entries in the colossal film franchise, David Yates returns to the wizarding world for a fifth endeavor—with a twist. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them takes a setting in the same world as Harry Potter with all his friends and enemies, but in a different time and city. Yates’ film takes place in New York City during the roaring ‘20s and follows wizard Newt Scamander, played by reigning best actor Eddie Redmayne (The Theory of Everything). Scamander wrote the book “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” within the “Harry Potter” series, a collection of all the different creatures he found on his storied travels. He’s almost a magical Darwinian-type, if you will. Author J.K. Rowling decided to write the shooting script for this new installment set within her literary universe and chose four adult protagonists to lead this venture—as the material within the film is rumored to have more mature themes. “Harry Potter” blew up the box office for more than a decade, so look for the long-awaited return to amplify ticket sales.
